Our 2019 AGM provided the opportunity to obtain an update on ConSIG activities, meet the steering committee members and learn about future planned activities and objectives.
EFQM Excellence Model in Construction
Held at Balfour Beatty’s office in Canary Wharf, this event explored the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model and how this might be used in construction. .
The event included speakers from British Quality Foundation (BQF), Siemens Building Technologies GB&I and Chiltern Railways.
The event included a Q & A / debate session to further explore the issues raised by the speakers.
WQD 2018 (ConSIG & CQI Milton Keynes Branch): Collaboration
ConSIG held a joint event with the CQI’s Milton Keynes Branch reviewing the concepts relevant to collaboration and improvements which can result.
Speakers were Paul Greenwood (Vice Chair, London Constructing Excellence) and Greg Faria (Quality Manager, Heathrow Airport).
Quality: Turning Risk into Opportunity
Held at BSI, Milton Keynes, this event explored how we can use quality to turn risk in to opportunity.
The event included speakers from Designing Buildings Wiki, Get It Right Initiative, BSI, and RIBA’s Client Liaison Committee.
Facilitated discussion sessions were held to obtain feedback on quality risks in construction.
Quality in Construction Summit
Four members of the ConSIG (David Myers, Helen Soulou, David Anderson and Mike Buss) presented at the Quality in Construction Summit held at the Radisson Blu, Stansted on Thursday 7th June, 2018.
Topics covered at the Summit included the Construction Quality Plan, Improving Quality through the Project Management Process, Get It Right Initiative (attitude, culture, leadership, and planning), Responsibility Matters, latest Government Regulated Quality Standards & Inspection & Test Plans.
Improving Quality Through Collaboration
This evening event introduced attendees to concepts of collaboration and explored how quality can be improved as a result.

Using Digital Technology to Generate Value in Construction
This evening event explored the use of using digital field technology on construction projects including the impact of data on business improvement.
Speakers were Rob Youster (Head of ICT, BAM Nuttall Limited), Mike Buss (Head of Quality, Taylor Woodrow), and Ian Mills (Head of Quality, Balfour Beatty).
